FAQs
Do the two openings need to be the same size?
Absolutely, the opening must be the same size. You may need to adjust or fabricate material to insure that the opening match. If they do not match the boot will bind, twist and not meet at the ends.
Will this work with a curved or beaded lip?
There is a limit to the thickness of the flange or thin wall the boot attaches. The recommended range is 1/16″ to 3/16″. Any larger and the boot will not grip properly. If you have a thicker wall then you have a few options. First, you can fabricate a flange using some sort of flat stock. Or you can modify the boot by removing the metal clip and inserting a stiffener and use a retainer.
What is EPDM
EPDM rubber is a type of synthetic rubber. It stands for EPDM rubber ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber.
How do I size the boot?
You will need to measure the outside perimeter of both opening. Then measure the gap distance between compartments. Every installation will vary. Choose a size that provides enough slack to avoid stress on the accordion bellow. Opening Calculator
