No, cutting is not recommended. Instead, remove the brake light and cover the hole, or change how the boot is mounted if you need to preserve the light.

- Will the lepac window boot work with thin metal or wood frames?
Yes, but there must be a flange no thicker than 3/16". For wood or thick materials, add a metal strip (like aluminum flat bar) around the opening for the lepac window bootto grip.
