Especially if it is too short. If you do not get enough material you will end up with a gap. That gap will not properly seal the opening.  Therefore getting the proper measurements is easy\u2014and once you\u2019ve have the numbers, selecting the correct boot is even easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide will walk you step by step the process that will help you find the <strong>perfect fit<\/strong> for your vehicle setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You\u2019ll Need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>tape measure<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>friend<\/strong> (optional, but helpful)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A notepad or smartphone to record measurements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Measure the Gap Between the Cab and Camper<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Park your vehicle on level ground with the <strong>camper shell installed<\/strong> (or at least positioned). Then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Measure the distance from the <strong>back of the truck cab<\/strong> to the <strong>front of the camper shell<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take this measurement <strong>at the window opening<\/strong>\u2014not the edge of the roof or bed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measure in <strong>three places<\/strong>: top, middle, and bottom. That is because there is no thin wall or flange to attach the boot. This thin wall should be +\/- 1\/8&#8243;. The thin wall could be fiberglass, sheet metal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> If the sliding window remains in place, an alternative is to use the <strong>compression-style boot<\/strong> instead of an accordion boot.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here are your options:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option 2: Use a Compression Boot<\/strong><br>If you prefer to keep the sliding window intact, a compression boot is a better solution. These are designed to compress between the cab and shell without requiring a flange or thin wall to attach the boot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click here for information on Compression Boots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option 1: Remove the Sliding Window<\/strong><br>Removing the glass allows the accordion boot to seal directly to the frame, creating a proper pass-through. Please note each truck is different.
